Artsmark is a national award that accredits quality arts education in England. It is Arts Council England’s flagship programme to audit, celebrate and develop high quality arts education in schools, further education colleges, and youth justice settings. It is developed in partnership with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Department of Education and OfSTED.

At Wyvern school we strongly value the importance of the arts as it is fantastic way for our pupils to express themselves in a variety of forms. We are aware of the value of the arts as a whole package and we promote the importance of music, art, dance and drama in every classroom and across each department.

We deliver high quality arts across the school and saw the Artsmark award as a great opportunity for us, as a school, to step back and evaluate what we offer and evaluate how the arts can further be embedded into the curriculum. Hence ensuring every child and young person has the opportunity to experience the richness of the arts through creative planning and a breadth of engaging resources.

We found the Arts process very useful and were able to evaluate and then celebrate the arts across the school further promoting its importance.
